Fairchild Television & Talentvision 30th Anniversary Dinner

As the proud media serving Chinese Canadians since 1993, Fairchild Television and Talentvision celebrated the 30th anniversary with a grand event held on August 17th. The evening was a culmination of three decades of dedication to providing news, entertainment, and philanthropic support to the community, aiming to spread positivity and aid newcomers in finding their place in Canada.

The banquet brought in an array of delectable dishes and abundant prizes as tokens of appreciation for the audience's enduring support and featured heart-warming messages on the large screen from celebrities around the world. Yi Yi Wang, Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant 2022 Champion, 1st Runner-up Renee Jan, and 2nd Runner-up Nicole Tanner were among the list of esteemed guests.

The two hilarious emcees, Mandy Chan and Brian Chiu, set the tone for the evening with an electrifying opening performance of the songs Bad Boy and Bad Lover. The national Weekly Game series held over the past two months selected ten lucky winners to be invited to the banquet and compete for the Ultimate Grand Prize on stage. Two of them traveled all the way from Toronto while the absent participant was graciously represented by the Miss Chinese Vancouver Pageant Champion Yi Yi Wang. After a spirited competition, Wendy Fong was overjoyed to take home two round-trip economy class tickets to any destination globally, courtesy of Air Canada. Viewers from across the country witnessed the climactic moment as the entire game segment was broadcasted live on Fairchild Television's Facebook page.

he highlight of the evening was marked by the special appearance by William Hu, a long-time collaborator with Fairchild Television. William has graced the stages of Miss Chinese Pageant across both East and West. He has also served as a judge and special guest performer on the talent quest Super 10. This return to Canada was particularly meaningful for William, who expressed his great pleasure in reuniting with the Fairchild Television team. William's repertoire featured classic hits, English ballads, popular Cantonese and Mandarin tunes, including The New Butterfly Dream, Love Medley, For Your Heart Only, Song of the Setting Sun and more. He even treated the audience to creatively reimagined versions of Guardian of Love, Love Trap and Monica, while igniting a lively ambience with melodies that had everyone clapping along. This charming celebrity also thoughtfully prepared red roses to gift to the audience, symbolizing his heartfelt affection and warmth to them while we bid farewell to the challenges and uncertainties of the past years. In the midst of the party, William joined his dear fans in selfies, gave away signed autographed photos as souvenirs, and disclosed his upcoming solo concert plans, inviting everybody to join him in Hong Kong.

Following an enthusiastic call for an encore from the audience, William returned to the stage to serenade the crowd with the classic Friends. The dinner was concluded on a high note, leaving attendees eagerly anticipating future engagements.
