Shanghai Spring Festival Gala 2025

Canada West 1:50pm & 8:30pm/ Canada East 4:50pm & 11:30pm

In Chinese tradition, the golden snake symbolizes both wealth and wisdom. This year, the Eastern Spring Festival Gala embraces the theme, “Spring fills the East, Good things happen in the Year of the Snake”, where the Chinese word “巳” represents the Snake year, symbolizing smooth progress, and the Chinese word “申,” representing Shanghai, strengthens the Shanghai Spring Gala brand. The phrase in Chinese also sounds like “good things happen”, expressing optimism for a bright future and Eastern TV's new direction for 2025.

The Gala will showcase Shanghai’s cultural elements, featuring Shanghai Ballet dancers performing at iconic landmarks like the Bund Art Museum and Shanghai Post Museum. It will also highlight Shanghai’s rich international cultural exchanges, with a special New Year blessing from “Egyptian Gods,” linking ancient Egypt’s wonders with Chinese traditions. The program will include a variety of performances, from singing and dancing to comedy and Music Theater, reflecting hot topics and offering a stage for celebrities, artists, and everyday people to celebrate the Spring Festival together.
